Care from experts in pediatric rehabilitation medicine

Seattle Children’s focuses on the care kids need for the conditions that affect them. Many rehab centers in the community will accept children but are focused on adult patients, who often have very different conditions and needs. We specialize in young people. For children who need intensive rehabilitation in the hospital, we have the only pediatric inpatient unit in Washington.

Specialized occupational therapy services

We have the largest team of occupational therapists (OTs) in the Pacific Northwest who specialize in treating babies, children, teens and young adults. OTs focus on upper body strength and muscles used in fine motor skills. We also provide and other positioning devices. Seattle Children’s offers specialized OT services that families typically cannot find in the community.

Occupational Therapy

Physical therapy to improve function and heal after injury

Our physical therapists (PTs) and sports physical therapists help children who are recovering from temporary problems, as well as those living with long-lasting conditions. We develop a care plan to reach your child’s specific goals. Seattle Children’s has more PTs who specialize in treating kids than anywhere else in the region.

Help with communicating and swallowing

Children may have difficulty communicating, feeding or swallowing for many different reasons. That’s why we schedule your child with a speech and language pathologist (SLP) who has the knowledge and skills that match your child’s concerns. After an evaluation, we recommend treatments and help your family find SLPs in your community for ongoing therapy.

Patient Success Story

A boy standing outside with his parents

“There was one day that the physical therapist brought a cornhole game in. Declan loves throwing basketballs — throwing all kinds of things — and I watched him throw the beanbag into the hole and light up. I knew we were on the right track.”
