Seattle Children’s Hospital Campus

Seattle Children's Hospital campus is a 24-acre site in Seattle's Laurelhurst neighborhood. It is equipped with the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and provides a fertile environment for clinical and health services research.

The Pediatric Clinical Research Center is located on level 8 of the hospital campus. This 5,000-square-foot facility supports an active clinical and translational research program.

Seattle Children’s Research Division

Seattle Children’s Research Research Division includes four adjacent buildings located in downtown Seattle, close to our current research partners – the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center – and other biotechnology centers. The physicians and scientists that staff the research institute are faculty members at the University of Washington.

In addition, pediatric investigators supported by Seattle Children’s are located at the University of Washington and Fred Hutch.

Seattle Children’s Research Institute: 307 Westlake Building

Home to Seattle Children’s Center for Global Infectious Disease Research, Seattle Children’s Research Institute: 307 Westlake Building is a specially designed, state-of-the-art research facility seeding Seattle’s global health hub. The 112,000-square foot, five story facility boasts vibration-resistant floors that can accommodate large scientific equipment and high ceilings that provide for a ventilation system designed specifically for a research facility.

The building houses a Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratory, an Imaging Core, a Flow Cytometry Core, the Malaria Human Challenge Center and two dedicated insectaries.

Seattle Children’s Research Institute: Building Cure

Located in the heart of South Lake Union, Seattle Children’s Research Institute: Building Cure is the latest step in Seattle Children’s quest to revolutionize pediatric medicine and save the lives of more children. Building Cure features a state-of-the-art Science Discovery Lab to support STEM education programs for children and teens, a 225-seat auditorium for scientific dialogue and a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility called the Cure Factory which specializes in translating laboratory discoveries into patient treatments.

Building Cure adds 540,000 square feet to Seattle Children’s Research Institute, expanding the total footprint of the institute to over 1 million square feet.

Seattle Children’s Research Institute: Jack R. MacDonald Building

Seattle Children’s Research Institute: Jack R. MacDonald Building encompasses 236,000 square feet, including six floors outfitted for bench laboratory research. The facility has approximately 750 staff making up the interdisciplinary teams that collaborate here conducting bench research and clinical trials.

The Jack R. MacDonald Building features a state-of-the-art barrier vivarium, SANTA imaging, core laboratories for flow cytometry and a growing aquatics facility which can house up to 52,668 fish.

Seattle Children’s Research Institute: Olive Lab Building

Located at the corner of Boren Avenue and Olive Way, Seattle Children’s Research Institute: Olive Lab is devoted to the Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer Research.
