Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care

What is Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care?  

Seattle Children’s Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care treats children and teens up to their 21st birthday with urgent orthopedic and sports-related injuries that occurred within the last 48 hours.

We see patients in person at our hospital campus in Seattle (Ocean 6 zone). The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. (closed on major holidays). The last walk-in visit is at 8 p.m.

What concerns do you see?

We see:

  • Broken bones (not bent or curved)
  • Cast problems
  • Injury advice for bones and joints
  • Sprains
  • Strains

Urgent Care and the Emergency Department also treat orthopedic and sports-related injuries.

What services are offered?

During an in-person visit we will:

  • Evaluate your child and the reason for the urgent concern. Depending on your child’s injury, we may provide services in our clinic. If your child needs a or , we will place an order so you can get the tests done at a Seattle Children’s location after your visit to our clinic.
  • Offer treatment recommendations that may include medicine, casting or bracing services. In some cases, we may recommend that your child has surgery.
  • Create a care plan for your child and schedule a follow-up visit through our Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic. We may provide referrals to additional services in the community or at Seattle Children’s.

What services are not offered?

We do not care for the following concerns in Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care:

  • (pain that is ongoing for more than 30 days)
  • Cuts
  • Nailbed injuries
  • Open wounds near possible bone break
  • Severe broken bones (bent, curved or look deformed)

We do not provide CT scans or MRIs at Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care. If needed, we will place an order so you can get the tests done at a Seattle Children’s location after your visit to our clinic.

Seattle Children’s Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care is the first pediatric-focused orthopedic urgent care in Washington state. The clinic provides same-day access to experts who specialize in orthopedic care, without the need for a referral.

We accept mostly walk-in visits, with a few scheduled appointments available daily. Schedule an in-person visit. Contact Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care at 206-987-2109 for more information. Phone lines are answered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you use a language other than English, call 866-583-1527, choose your language and ask to speak to Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.

  • What should we expect during the visit?

    • Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time to check in.
    • If you have not arrived by your scheduled visit time, your visit may be given to another patient.
  • What should I expect for follow-up?

    We fax notes from your child’s Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care visit to your child’s primary care provider within 24 hours. If needed, we will schedule a follow-up visit in our Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic.

  • Where do we go for care when Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care is full or closed?

    Seattle Children’s Urgent Care Clinics and the ED also treat urgent orthopedic and sports-related injuries.

    • The ED is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
    • The Urgent Care Clinics in Seattle, Bellevue, Everett and Federal Way are open 365 days a year. Hours vary by location.

  • How do I cancel or change an appointment with Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care?
    • If you scheduled an appointment from a Seattle Children’s MyChart account: Log into your Seattle Children’s MyChart account. If you are a parent/guardian, select the child who has the Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care appointment. Go to visits, select the visit and select cancel.
    • If you did not schedule the appointment through a Seattle Children’s MyChart account, click the cancellation link provided in your appointment confirmation email.
  • Will you prescribe medicine for my child?

    We may prescribe medicine based on our assessment of your child’s concerns. Please make sure we have the correct pharmacy on file to send medicine to, if needed.

Referring a patient

Providers: No referral is needed to have a patient seen at Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care. A patient can schedule an in-person visit. Please note which concerns are appropriate for Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care and ensure patients with emergent concerns are directed to the nearest emergency department.

We accept mostly walk-in visits, with a few scheduled appointments available daily. A patient can schedule an in-person visit online.
