What is Seattle Children’s Renton Cardiology?
Seattle Children’s Renton Cardiology provides care for newborns, children and teens close to home in South King County. The clinic’s heart doctors (cardiologists) also see pregnant people whose developing baby may have a heart condition.
Seattle Children’s Renton Cardiology is part of Seattle Children's Heart Center, the most comprehensive pediatric heart care service in the Northwest. The Heart Center team offers the full range of heart care, from prenatal consultation to heart surgery to heart care for young adults.
We believe that referring community providers and Seattle Children’s providers are partners in the care of South King County youth.
Why choose Seattle Children’s Renton Cardiology?
- Clear communication: We work with you and your child’s primary care provider to make referrals. We will discuss your child’s condition and treatment options in ways you can understand.
- Easy access: Providers at Renton Cardiology will be able to see most new patients within 1 to 2 weeks after processing your child’s/your patient’s referral. If your child’s condition is more urgent, their primary care provider can indicate that on their referral or reach out to our team to discuss urgent clinical questions.
- Local providers: All of the Renton Cardiology providers live and work in the area and are part of the Seattle Children’s Heart Center team. Our cardiologists see patients in clinic and also provide expert, in-person consultations at hospitals throughout the South Sound region, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Full spectrum of heart care: Our Renton heart care experts provide timely access to all of Seattle Children’s Heart Center services. We will work closely with you and your child’s primary care provider to create a treatment plan that is right for your child.

- Bring the patient’s insurance card, Social Security number, any needed legal papers (for a legal guardian, a parent who does not have legal custody or a legal name change on the account), a list of medicines your child is taking (include vitamins and herbs), any test results or X-rays that may help with this visit and play and comfort items for your child, like favorite books, toys or music (with headphones). What to expect
- Visits usually take about 1.5 hours.
- A nurse will greet you and take you to an exam room. They will check your child’s height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate and breathing rate. They may do an electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG).
- A cardiologist asks about your child’s health history and any symptoms, listens to your child’s heart and examines your child. The exam may include touching the chest and feeling for a pulse in the neck, wrist, groin or feet.
- The doctor may ask for your child to have more tests, such as an echocardiogram, Holter monitor or event monitor.
- Before you leave, the nurse will review what the doctor said and give you more details about your child’s condition, tests or next steps. If you need a note for school or work, they can provide this.
