What is the goal of this study?

Researchers at Seattle Children’s Hospital want to learn more about the connection between Autism Spectrum Disorder and congenital CMV and their relationship to hearing loss. This research study is for kids.

Who can join the study?

Participants between the ages of 18 months and 8 years, was born in Washington State and has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

What will happen if my child takes part in this study?

If you decide to have your child take part in the research study, you will be provided information about the study and sign a consent document.

The consent document will allow your child's:

  • dried blood spot to be sent from the Department of Health to a lab for congenital CMV testing. (The dried blood spot was collected at the time of birth)
  • medical records and hearing screening results to be reviewed
