What is the goal of the study?

The purpose of this study is to: • Establish a process of obtaining and verifying consent for, and distribution and monitoring of research biospecimens obtained at Seattle Children’s (SC) that may be accessed for projects of demonstrated scientific merit conducted by IRB approved investigators. • To collect and store tumor surgical specimens and other biospecimens including blood and saliva samples from subjects (and parents when available), urine, bone marrow, teeth and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) when available. • To collect and store corresponding subjects’ current and prospective clinical and laboratory data on disease characterization, treatment and outcome. • To provide a mechanism of oversight for tumor patient specimens obtained at SC stored for future research in SC Tumor Specimen Bank. • To establish a process to review and prioritize proposals submitted by investigators who wish to access tumor tissue collected at SC. • To create a mechanism for collecting tumor patient specimens for local as well as collaborative research projects. Separate research protocols using any re-identified registry data or repository samples will be required. These separate research protocols may perform molecular analyses of DNA, RNA and protein and establish tumor cell cultures, cell lines and transplantation models for institutional and/or commercial research.
