Seattle Children's Urologic Management to Preserve Initial Renal Function Protocol for Young Children with Spina Bifida (UMPIRE Protocol) (Component C)

UMPIRE Urologic Management

What is the goal of the study?

The purpose of this study is to prospectively monitor the kidney and bladder health in children born with the most common and medically complex type of spina bifida, called myelomeningocele, using a particular bladder management and kidney surveillance protocol. The recommendations regarding assessment and monitoring of urologic function outlined in this protocol are already established as the standard of practice at Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) (beginning February 2014).
