MANATEE-T1D: Metformin ANd AutomaTEd insulin delivery system Effects on renal vascular resistance, insulin sensitivity, and cardiometabolic function in youth with Type 1 Diabetes

What is the goal of the study?
This is a double blinded placebo trial to learn about the health effects of combining two treatments, the automated insulin delivery system and metformin, for people with type 1 diabetes aged 12-25. Participants on multiple daily insulin injections will have their body composition, cardiovascular health, and insulin sensitivity twice four months apart. Only youth on pump systems will take metformin or a placebo during the four months period (in addition to the same assessments as the other group)
