What is the goal of the study?

As survivorship rates increase, more studies are needed regarding the long-term effects of treatment. Anecdotally, many urologists perceive that the long-term effects of radiation are under-reported; while bladders may be saved with using radiation only as local control, the function of these saved bladders is not necessarily preserved and other pelvic organs are also negatively affected. There have been recent qualitative studies focused on long-term survivors of GU RMS (Saunders et al, 2025) but no direct comparisons with regards to local treatment modalities in a quantitative fashion. There are validated tools to measure functional quality of life outcomes, like the Vancouver Symptom Score for measuring bowel and bladder dysfunction in children.
