What is the goal of the study?

The overall objective of this proposal is to determine if early intravascular volume expansion in children diagnosed with STEC infection improves clinical outcomes compared with conservative fluid management treatment approaches. To achieve this objective, we will randomize each participant to one of two arms: hyperhydration or conservative fluid management, and follow the patient’s course of care until end-of fluid protocol criteria is met.
