Homeostatic and circadian regulation of sleep throughout the lunar month

Homeostatic and circadian regulation of sleep throughout the lunar month

  • Phase: Early Phase I
  • Clinicaltrials.gov ID: NCT33333333

What is the goal of the study?

This is a longitudinal study that is to determine whether the lunar changes in sleep are the result of changes in the circadian clock or in the homeostatic regulation of sleep. This will involve a screening of the sleep-wake cycle during approximately two months by wearing a wrist activity monitor or an activity ring, and a daily sleep diary. In a subset of screened participants with strong lunar rhythmicity, a sleep laboratory study that involves three visits to the sleep lab, continuous EEG recordings, sleep deprivation and serial saliva collection for assessment of hormonal rhythms.
