What to Expect and Important Guidelines

  • Español PDF

Welcome to Seattle Children’s Sports Physical Therapy. This handout provides information about what to expect during therapy sessions and important guidelines to keep in mind.

Appointments and scheduling

To schedule or cancel an appointment:
Call 206-987-6400

Please be on time for your visit. If you arrive more than 20 minutes late, we may need to reschedule for another time or day.

If a patient misses 3 visits in a row without first notifying us (no-show), we may cancel their therapy and all future visits. We may be able to schedule only one visit at a time.

If you need an interpreter when calling any of our locations, please first dial the free Family Interpreting Line at 1-866-583-1527 and tell them the clinic or extension you need.

Changing or cancelling an appointment

If you are unable to attend your visit, please cancel the appointment as soon as you can. This will allow us to make the time available for another patient.

There are several ways to cancel or change an appointment:

  • If you have a MyChart account, go to your upcoming appointments and make changes directly there.
  • You may also call 206-987-6400. If you need an interpreter, first dial 1-866-583-1527 and then ask for the extension you need.
  • If you have opted into receiving voice or text message appointment reminders, you can follow the prompts to cancel.

Health changes or illness

Please tell your therapist about any changes in your child’s medical status that may impact their therapy session.

If your child is ill or has been ill within 24 hours of the visit with a fever, cough or vomiting, please do not bring them to therapy.

Only one parent allowed in the gym

Only one parent is allowed in the gym during therapy sessions. This improves safety and lowers distractions during therapy.

Please check in with your child’s therapist before and after each session. This is a great time to talk about your child’s treatment plan and progress, as well as address any questions or concerns.

Patients who may come alone

After the first visit, some patients may be able to come to therapy alone. Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • Please stay at the clinic or within a 5-minute distance during your child’s visit.
  • We do not provide childcare or supervision outside of the therapy time.

Costs and Insurance

You are financially responsible for your child’s therapy services. Please check your therapy benefits with your insurance company.

If you have questions or need help, contact our financial counselors at 206-987-3333.

Transportation

Some patients may be able to get transportation support. Please check with the following services:

  • Hopelink – King County: 800-923-7433
  • Hopelink – Snohomish County: 855-766-7433
  • Paratransit – Pierce County: 253-581-8000
