WIC is a nutrition program that provides monthly food benefits with a focus on healthy grocery items like milk, fruits, and vegetables. The program also assists with health screenings and referrals, nutritional education, and breast/chestfeeding support. WIC is for people who are pregnant, recently delivered a baby, who are breast/chestfeeding, and infants and children under 5 years old. Dads, grandparents, foster parents, or other guardians may also apply for WIC for their children.
How do I know if I qualify for WIC?
- Your family income will help the WIC staff know if you qualify. If you qualify for state insurance or other state services, you likely will qualify.
- Call the Help Me Grow WA Hotline at 1-800-322-2588 to check.
How do I apply?
- To apply, call a WIC clinic near your home or the hospital.
- Most people will want a WIC clinic near their home so they can easily get services close to home after they leave the hospital.
- If you will be staying at the hospital for a longer time and need WIC services during your stay, you may want a clinic near the hospital. When you leave the hospital, you will need to transfer your services to a clinic closer to where you live.
