Resources to Support Youth Coping with the Stress of Racism
The FAST team has developed a handout for parents/caregivers on supporting youth who are experiencing racism (also available in Spanish), one for kids and teens on racial discrimination and mental health (Spanish version), and a more in-depth handout just for teens (Spanish version). Please share with patients/families as appropriate. For additional details, read more First Approach Skills Training (FAST) Program materials.
On-demand Class Helps Families Navigate Mental Health Care
“Finding Mental Health Care in Washington State” is a free, on-demand, self-paced class for parents and caregivers of children ages 5 to 18 with mental health care needs. Eight short videos educate families about resources outside of Seattle Children’s, with the goal of helping families connect to care as quickly as possible. The class is available in English and Spanish. Please share this resource with families who may be looking for mental health care.
New “Exploring the Autism Spectrum Together” Video for Families
The third video in the Autism Center’s animated series is now available on Seattle Children’s Autism Center website. In just under four minutes, families and caregivers can learn about the autism spectrum and levels of support.
Please share the “Introduction to Autism” video series with patients and families as appropriate. Created by experts at Seattle Children’s Autism Center and the Patient, Family Education and Communications team, these videos were made possible through the generous support of Wizards of the Coast.
