Expanding Seasonal Urgent Care Access for Orthopedic Injuries

Seattle Children’s Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care (OIUC) offers same-day, in-person visits for children, teens and young adults with urgent orthopedic and sports-related injuries that do not need the services of an emergency department.

To better meet the needs of patients and community providers, Seattle Children’s is opening seasonal OIUC services at its Federal Way and Everett clinics, in addition to the permanent OIUC clinic at Seattle Children’s Hospital (Monday through Friday, 5 to 9 p.m.), to care for the many injuries that tend to come up for children and young adults during the back-to-school months.

Following are details for the seasonal additional access:

• Seattle Children’s Federal Way and Everett clinics
• Saturdays only, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Aug. 29 to Oct. 17

Walk-in patients are welcome, and no referrals are needed. A small number of scheduled online appointments are available daily through MyChart.

What services can be provided at Orthopedic Injury Urgent Care?

• Assessment of broken bones (not bent or curved), sprains and strains, bone and joint pain, and cast issues.
• Treatment and care planning including x-ray and advanced imaging, bracing, casting, and prescribing medication.
• Access to advanced treatment, including surgery for acute injuries, is available when needed.

For patients seen at any of the Seattle Children’s OIUC clinics, their primary care providers will receive faxed notes from their appointment typically within five business days.
