  • Biography

    Mandy Breedt is a pediatric nurse practitioner within the Division of Neurosurgery at Seattle Children's Hospital. Mandy received her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington. She worked as a nurse at Seattle Children's Hospital with the Hematology/Oncology Department before going on to be a nurse working specifically with the brain tumor population. She went on to receive her master's degree from University of Washington as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Since obtaining her masters degree (2009), Mandy has been a member of the Neurosurgery team at Seattle Children's.

    She has a special interest in pediatric brain tumors. She enjoys developing a relationship with families from new diagnosis following them through the course of their illness. Mandy is a certified ELNEC trainer in Palliative Care Services. She has been invited to speak about palliative care at the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses national conference.

    In 2008, Mandy was the Recipient of the Harold and John Steinberg Excellence in Nursing Oncology Award. She was also nominated for the Harold and John Steinberg Excellence in Nursing Oncology Award (2006, 2007) and a recipient of the Daisy Award for Exceptional Nursing in 2006.

    Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, she feels privileged to have had such an incredible childhood, spending many hours with her family in the wilderness with plenty of extraordinary experiences. Her interests include spending time with her family and dogs, hiking, and traveling to warm places.
