  • Biography

    I am a physician-scientist who focuses on chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD), a complication of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) in which donor-derived immune cells attack and damage otherwise healthy recipient tissue. cGVHD can affect nearly any tissue and is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality among long-term HCT survivors. I work with the conviction that a curative therapy such as HCT should not carry the potentially life-long burden of cGVHD.

    Clinically, I care for children actively undergoing HCT in the Seattle Children's inpatient transplant service as well as for adults living with cGVHD in the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center Long Term Follow-Up program. It brings me joy to care for patients across the HCT and age continuums.

    Research-wise, I work at Fred Hutch in the laboratory of Geoffrey Hill, where I pair traditional lab bench methods with computational genomics to study myeloid cell contributions to cGVHD. My goal is to understand how and why organ fibrosis occurs in the most significant forms of cGVHD in order to deliver better solutions to patients.
