David L. Horn MD joined the University of Washington faculty in 2010. He is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery as well as adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences. He received his MD degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, then undertook otolaryngology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine and most recently completed his fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Horn is the medical Co-Director of the Pediatric Cochlear Implant program at Seattle Childrens Hospital and sees patients with hearing loss, ear disorders, balance issues, as well as other general pediatric otolaryngological problems. Dr. Horn also conducts research as the principle investigator of the Prosthetic Auditory Development Laboratory at the Virginia Merrill Bloedel Hearing Research Center. His work, funded by the National Institutes of Health, seeks to understand how early hearing abilities in infancy are related to later spoken-language development.

Good Doctor see both of my children
-
Our 4 day old son was admitted to Children's with unexplained issues where his oxygen dropped significantly when he tried to feed. He had multiple things going on but the team of doctors came at it from every angle to ensure he was safe. Dr. Horn was our favorite despite the fact that he had to insert a camera into our son's throat to see what was happening and then performed surgery on him at 6 days old. He was kind, very informative and respectful. We fully trusted his judgement and his initial prognosis was proved out after much testing, our son went home and is growing up to be strong and healthy. I would recommend Dr. Horn.

He was wonderful with my son who has major issues with anxiety. He took time to talk to him and reassure him. He even discussed Star Wars with him. My son also healed nicely with little scaring. We go back for a follow-up surgery this fall and I am confident DR. Horn will do another great job.

Our 11-year-old daughter Olivia came to Dr. Horn after receiving a diagnosis of a tumor in her parotid salivary gland. When he reviewed her case, he spent a lot of time explaining our options and even told us what he would do if Olivia were his own daughter. We went ahead with his recommendation to remove the tumor as soon as possible. He spent time with us right before the surgery - answering our questions and helping to put our minds at ease. We are so thankful that we went with his recommendation, because five days later we learned that her tumor was cancer. Because of his knowledge and expertise, our daughter's cancer was caught early and did not have a chance to spread throughout her body. He has given us a future filled with HOPE and we are grateful. Thank you!

My son who was 2 1/2 at the time of his surgery needed to have his adenoids removed. Dr. Horn is very knowledgeable, compassionate and gave me a very clear understanding of what my son's issues were. I was overwhelmed by the decision to either have the surgery to remove the adenoids or wait and see if things got better. He helped me make the right choice by providing me with the best medical information/advise and presenting it to me in "English" and not a lot of medical terminology. My son's surgery was very successful. Dr. Horn has a great personality, and really cares about his patience. I felt like my son was in excellent care before and during the surgery. Everything was well explained and lots of supportive materials were provided to me. I highly recommend Dr. Horn because of his charismatic personality his passion for his career, and ability to work well with children. Thank you!
