"My interest in medicine started in high school after completing a self-guided elective on anatomy and physiology of the heart. It was in the later years of medical school when I chose a career in surgery. Congenital cardiac surgery became my focus after working with the cardiac surgeons at Children's of Colorado during my surgical training. I specifically enjoy the reconstructive nature of the operations we perform and watching my patients thrive after repair. Seattle Children's is a great place to work because of the collaborative atmosphere within the Heart Center. We truly work as a team and this leads to the best outcomes for our patients. "

      Dr. Mauchley is a God send. Our son, Gabriel, had to have open heart surgery at just 4 weeks old, adjusted age of 1 week old and was just 6lbs. We waited 10 hours while he was operating on our son's heart. I have never been so terrified as i was that day. We met Dr. Mauchley the morning of his surgery and i instantly felt some relief and just somehow knew our son was in good hands. Him and the other CVICU drs/nurses & staff cared for Gabe over the next 3 months while he recovered.Our family will FOREVER be greatful to this man. Without him, or in the hands of another surgeon, I'm certain we would have had a different outcome. Thank you Dr. Mauchley for saving our child. I pray for you still to this day. Gabriel is 3 now, a big brother and doing great! I wish you could meet him again, under different circumstances of course!
