Odessa Brown Children's Clinic Annual Accountability Report FY25
Discover Our Impact
Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic (OBCC) provides more than 44,000 clinical visits each year. Our core services include primary medical, dental and behavioral health for children, teens and young adults — regardless of a family’s ability to pay. We offer coordinated care that addresses the root causes of illness, including social, economic and environmental factors. Our diverse team reflects the communities we serve and advocates for their overall well-being.
Letter From Dr. Shaquita Bell
As we close what has often been called a hard and heavy year, I am honored to share some of the light that the Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic (OBCC) was able to shine on the world. At a time when the world feels uncertain, OBCC continues to stay true to our mission of delivering compassionate, high-quality care with dignity and keeping our eyes on what matters most — the children and families we serve.
One of our new sayings is “My OBCC,” because this clinic truly belongs to all of us. OBCC is not just a place of work; it’s where we provide healing, empower growth and advocate for justice. Thank you to everyone who is part of the OBCC family: our patients, their parents and caregivers, our dedicated staff, our community partners and our generous donors. You are the heart of this clinic. We would not be able to light this path without you.
There is so much work to be proud of. In July 2025, we marked a monumental milestone with the grand opening of the first half of OBCC Central District. Building on OBCC and Seattle Children’s 50-year commitment to the Central District, we honored a promise to come back. We built this space through deeply listening to our community and ensuring our services reflect what families told us they need most. With expanded primary care and behavioral health services, families are already experiencing shorter wait times and greater access to the holistic, high quality care they need.
In February 2026, we will open additional space for medical services, completing the overall expansion of the OBCC Central District. Part of this growth will include the launch of the Community Advocacy Restorative Education (CARE) Clinic. This clinic represents a powerful commitment to compassion and comprehensive healing, offering a multidisciplinary care model to support youth who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing trauma, including domestic violence, firearm violence, human trafficking and substance use.
OBCC continued to grow programs shaped by community priorities, including additional allergy and immunology care in our medical clinic. Our dental team expanded our dental screening program to all three of our school-based health centers, providing this important service right where kids learn and live. And through the leadership of our OBCC Governance Council, community voices stayed at the center of the work, guiding decisions, getting out into the community at events like Umoja Fest and funding important opportunities. Because of the generosity of many reading this letter, when state funding for food vouchers was cut, donor support allowed us to step in immediately to make up the difference ensuring that OBCC families did not go without food.
Looking ahead, we will continue to be wise and steady stewards of our resources so we can persist in showing up and providing care for our community. Our goal is to weather uncertain financial times with fortitude, so OBCC is strong for generations to come. Above all, we will keep caring for every child and family regardless of their ability to pay, insurance coverage or immigration status and we remain committed to being a trusted healthcare home and a healing space for all. Together, we will make sure “My OBCC” rings true for patients, families, staff, partners and donors alike. With your continued support, we will keep meeting the needs, expanding access where it matters most and delivering compassionate, high-quality care with dignity to every child and family we serve.
With gratitude,
Shaquita Bell, MD
Associate Vice President, Chief Medical Director, OBCC
A Homecoming to the Central District

In July 2025, Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic returned home to Seattle’s Central District. Just three blocks from our original location, the new clinic was shaped by the voices of community members, families and staff. Today, children and families can access primary care, behavioral health, autism evaluations, nutrition services and more, with shorter wait times and care that treats the whole child in a space designed to feel welcoming, familiar and trusted.
Grateful for Your Generous Support

Gifts to OBCC help families get the hope, care and cures they need in the heart of our community. With 70% to 80% of our patient families on Medicaid, which reimburses just 11 cents on the dollar, philanthropy is essential to ensuring equitable pediatric healthcare for all families. Thanks in part to the support of our donors, OBCC will continue providing quality care with dignity to children and families for another 50 years.
