Rick Cuddihy, MD

Rick Cuddihy, MD

Dr. Rick Cuddihy grew up in New Mexico. Being the first of six children likely influenced his decision to become a pediatrician. He attended the University of Washington for undergraduate education; then his medical training took him to New York and Texas, but his goal was always to return the Northwest.

He has over 25 years of experience in pediatrics and feels that medicine is a wonderful blend of science and service. In medical school, one of his professors said, “always make sure that your patient is better off for coming in to see you that day,” simple, yet important, words that continue to motivate him every day. He enjoys getting to know families beyond their health concerns. He values the trust parents place in him and strives to always provide clear, up to date information.

Dr. Cuddihy worked in Yakima, Washington, where he was the site coordinator for the WWAMI program, mentoring resident physicians from Seattle Children’s Hospital. He then worked in Bend, Oregon, for 15 years, where he started a pediatrics department at Bend Memorial Clinic. He also developed a healthcare start up to improve patient education.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Cuddihy enjoys listening to jazz music and making great coffee. He and his wife, Cecile, have two adult children who they love to visit in the UK and Canada. Dr. Cuddihy is excited to be part of the team at Richmond Pediatrics and looks forward to meeting you and your family!
