SC-N166 SDH and healthcare experiences
What is the goal of the study?
Using a mixed method approach, survey items and semi-structured interviews will be implemented to caregivers of children with cancer at Seattle Children?s Hospital in this study. Quantitative data from aim 1 will provide insight to the prevalence of experienced racism amongst caregivers of children with cancer. Qualitative data from aim 2 will draw upon the perspective of caregivers who are experiencing racism to enrich our understanding of key mechanisms and potential interventions. The results from aim 1 and 2 will inform a conceptual model in aim 3 to better understand how racism leads to inequitable outcomes for children with cancer from marginalized racial/ethnic communities.
