Smartphone - based Endoscopy

Smartphone - based Endoscopy

  • Phase: N/A

What is the goal of the study?

We have designed and created a smartphone-based alternative to the costly accessory equipment necessary to power endoscopic examination. This hand-held, portable device provides all the capabilities of the conventional tower making flexible laryngoscopy more accessible and enabling prompt patient care. Furthermore, our device allows for collaborations across providers at multiple locations on patient diagnosis and increases access to laryngoscopy in remote and underserved areas via telemedicine. The aim of this study is to perform endoscopic recordings using our smartphone-based device on patients being seen in the Otolaryngology Clinic at Seattle Children’s who are undergoing endoscopy as part of routine clinical care and to check the quality of the recorded endoscopic videos. Recorded examinations will be reviewed by independent clinicians in a blinded fashion to determine video quality.

Who can participate in the study?

Patients who are being seen in Otolaryngology clinic or in consultation with Otolaryngology
