PREVALENCE OF ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION IN ADOLESCENT PATIENTS WITH PULMONARY HYPERTENSION

PH Mental Health

What is the goal of the study?

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) carries significant morbidity and mortality with poor overall patient outcomes. Children with PH were found to score lower in quality of life measures compared to healthy norms, and are at high risk of mental health disorders given the stress of this diagnosis and it’s associated treatments. There are currently no prevalence studies for anxiety and depression within the pediatric PH population. Our primary objective for this study is to identify the current prevalence of anxiety and depression in children diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension in outpatient clinic at PH care centers. We would like to understand this prevalence using validated screening tools for developmentally appropriate children diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension between 12-21 years old.
