Insulin Resistance Neuro-imaging Study in Kids

IRiS

What is the goal of the study?

IRiS is a pilot cross-sectional study of youth (aged 11-16 years) with obesity, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes (n=30) who will undergo a structural brain MRI to assess for differences at the hypothalamus. participants will also undergo anthropometric measurements, body composition measurements, a fasting blood draw and completion of surveys including an eating behavior screening. A subset of participants with prediabetes (n=6) will undergo more intensive glucose characterization at a 2nd study visit that will include an oral glucose tolerance test and placement of a continuous glucose monitor.
