Impact of Continued Bracing After Initial Successful Treatment for Infant Hip Dislocation: Randomized Prospective Pilot Study

Infant DDH Randomized Bracing

  • Phase: Early Phase I

What is the goal of the study?

The purpose of this study is to identify whether those who present with hip dislocations benefit from supplemental bracing after normalization of hip ultrasound metrics following successful brace treatment. Bracing infants with hip dislocations is standard of care; this study seeks to determine if an extended duration of bracing provides longer-term advantages by reducing the incidence of residual dysplasia seen on follow-up imaging.

Who can participate in the study?

Patients below six months of age who presented with a hip dislocation and were successfully treated a Pavlik harness with normalized alpha angle (>60°) and femoral head coverage (>45°)
