Familial Inflammatory Bowel Disease Early Risk (Fiber) Study

FIBER

  • Condition(s): Other
  • Phase: Registry
  • Clinicaltrials.gov ID: NA

What is the goal of the study?

The familial nature of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has long been identified. Observational studies have highlighted a positive family history of IBD as a major risk factor for developing the disease, with this risk being particularly high in first-degree relatives (FDRs) of patients with Crohn’s disease (CD). Importantly, there appears to be an additive risk increment of CD onset per additional affected FDR. Therefore, individuals within families with multiple affected members, also known as multiplex families, harbor a notably high risk of developing CD.
