Exploring quality of life for survivors of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia: a prospective cohort study

HRQOL CDH

What is the goal of the study?

We wish to address the relationship between disease specific factors and parent reported health related quality of life outcomes (HRQOL) in survivors of congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). Our specific aims are 1) to evaluate relationships between disease-specific factors and parent reported HRQOL in children with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and 2) to compare HRQOL survey results based on risk stratification assigned to patients during prenatal counseling. We hypothesize that parents of subjects with greater severity of disease-specific factors will have lower HRQOL scores, i.e., lower perceived quality of life, than parents of subjects with lower severity disease-specific factors. Parents of subjects categorized as high risk will have lower HRQOL scores than parents of subjects in other risk categories.
