What is the goal of the study?

The purpose of this comparative effectiveness randomized trial is to determine if priming of the cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) circuit with only crystalloid solution reduces CPB-associated inflammation as compared to using a CPB prime of allogeneic blood products mixed with crystalloid solution.

Who can participate in the study?

Patients between 5-10kg that require CPB as part of their clinically indicated surgery
