What is the goal of the study?

Adolescents and young adults (AYAs) who are cancer survivors experience unique developmental and psychosocial needs, and are at risk of poor psychosocial outcomes including social isolation, distress, anxiety, depression, fear of cancer recurrence, and post-traumatic stress. Digital interventions may be particularly appealing to AYAs who are accustomed to interacting on smartphones and the internet. The objective of this qualitative study is to develop and refine a mental health chatbot prototype for AYA cancer survivors. Aim 1: Gain perspectives from AYA cancer survivors on psychosocial intervention content and implementation strategies to inform the design of mental health chatbot content. Aim 2: Iteratively co-design an interactive prototype of a mental health chatbot tailored to the AYA cancer journey utilizing user-centered design principles and community engagement.
