ALTE2321, Walking Juntos: Developing and Testing a Culturally-Tailored Mobile Health and Social Media Physical Activity Intervention Among Adolescent and Young Adult Childhood Cancer Survivors A COG Groupwide Phase 2b Study
ALTE2321_Walking Juntos
What is the goal of the study?
The purpose of this study is to test the efficacy of a physical activity program to meet the unique needs of Hispanic or Latino/a adolescents and young adults after cancer treatment. For stage 1, ALTE2321 will enroll self-identified Hispanic or Latino/a cancer survivors and the central coordinator center will proceed with remaining steps where participants complete an initial survey and 3 Rounds of reviewing the program materials and qualitative interviews (phone conversations) so that the study team can learn what participants think about the physical activity programs proposed. Stage 2 will only begin after stage 1 is completed and will be fully detailed based on feedback provided by Stage 1 participants. Stage 2 will involve participants being randomized to the Intervention Group or Control Group. All Stage 2 participants will receive a PA tracker (such as a Fitbit) and will complete Baseline and Final evaluations (Surveys, Accelerometers, Anthropometrics, 2-Minute Step Test). The evaluations can be completed in-person (in clinic) or remotely (by phone/video conference). In addition to the PA tracker, the Intervention Group will be offered a culturally-tailored multi-component PA program. Finally, a subset of participants in the Intervention Group will be invited to take part in one of two qualitative interviews. Stage 1 has been finished and SCH will only participate in stage 2.
