Eric E Turner, MD, PhD
Academic Title: Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
Research Title: Principal Investigator
Research Center: Center for Integrative Brain Research
"My earliest experiences in psychiatry were at Harborview here in Seattle, where I first saw the devastating effects of severe mental illness. I realized then, and still appreciate, how little we know of the complex landscape of the human brain. I believe that to understand the root causes of disorders such as schizophrenia and autism, we need to know a great deal more about how the brain develops and how development impacts brain function. I go to work every day to discover something new about brain development and to ultimately help solve the complex puzzle of mental illness."
