Lab Tests for Child Wellness Clinic

• FASTING labs do not let your child eat any food for 8 hours before getting their labs drawn. They can drink water with nothing added to it.
• If you are worried that the blood draw may be hard for your child, we have Child Life specialists who can help. They are trained to help children cope with lab visits. They can be reached at 206-987-2145 for Seattle and 206-884-9234 for the Bellevue lab.

You can have your child’s blood drawn at the location that is most convenient for you.

You can also have the blood tests done with your child’s primary care provider or local lab. Please ask us for a lab form that we will fill out for you to take to your child’s primary care provider or local lab. The lab will fax the results to us after they are done.

It is very important to us that we discuss your child’s lab results with you. Our medical providers will call you or send my chart message after they receive your child’s lab results.

If labs are done outside of Seattle Children’s Lab, please call 206-987-2613, option 5, and leave a message including your child’s name and date of birth, and when and where labs were drawn, so we can track down the labs. Lab results can take 2 weeks to get to our providers if they are from your primary care provider’s office or a non-Children’s lab.

If you do not hear from us within 2 to 3 weeks after the blood test, call 206-987-2613, option 1, to let our schedulers know to contact our medical providers.
