Dr. Welty is a fantastic Doctor and person. Before our premature daughter was born he made time to meet with us and prepare us for what was to come. He is sensitive and very, very knowledgeable. Dr Welty, the nurses, and the other providers are top notch and I would trust them with my daughter 1000x over. We loved how he runs the NICU and parent involvement.

Dr. Welty was one of our baby's two primary Neonatologists during his first 2.5 months of life, and has since followed him as a member of the BPD team at our new hospital. Our baby was born at 25 weeks at 1lb 4oz and has severe Chronic Lung Disease. Dr. Welty is very straight forward. He doesn't tip toe around things, and he's honest with you about where your child is at. This was scary at first, but now I honestly miss his up front explanations. He has always clearly had our baby's best interest in mind, and been compassionate toward us as well. I always hope to run into him at our current hospital, as I trust and respect his input 100%.

Dr Welty has a great way of talking to parents like regular people in plain language. He frequently validates the importance of a parent’s impressions and asks for parent input. He is also the most explicitly pro-breastfeeding of all the doctors I’ve encountered during my daughter’s 5 weeks in the NICU.
