  • Maya Scott, MSW, LICSW, director of the Center for Diversity and Health Equity, is responsible for operationalizing the mission of CDHE and Seattle Children’s, the advancement and integration of health equity and antiracism, and reduction of health disparities. Maya is a social worker and ethicist, with her clinical training in pediatric palliative care and bereavement, and the integration of health equity in ethics consultation, and currently serves as a Vice-Chair of the Seattle Children’s Ethics Committee. As a part of her work at the Center, Maya has supported the growth and expansion of CDHE consultation across Seattle Children’s and closer to the bedside with hospital-based roles, deepening of integration into Quality and Safety, systems-level approaches to ethical complexity, and antiracist and equitable responses to conflict. Maya continues to focus on how to engage in patient, family, and community centered approaches to antiracism and health equity, developing and balancing proactive and responsive frameworks in both systems and interpersonal experiences of racism and inequity.
