    Jill Hansen grew up in the Midwest. She attended college in Alaska on an athletic scholarship. She next had the opportunity to work and volunteer in Washington, D.C. She returned to Minnesota where her son, Leif, was born; she was grateful to spend the next couple years home with him.

    Hansen next completed education for registered nurse licensure. As a nurse, she worked in hospitals and clinics, and as a school nurse. The natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest drew her to the area for graduate studies in the family nurse practitioner (NP) program at the University of Washington. A keen interest in mental health and illness led her to pursue additional board certification in psychiatry.

    As a nurse practitioner, Hansen has cared for kids in clinics in Washington and Minnesota, and on U.S. Army bases in Germany. She is thrilled to be a part of the exceptional group at Richmond Pediatrics.

    She especially enjoys connecting with each patient and family. She actively listens and clearly explains complex information; patients feel understood and parents reassured. Her thorough approach optimizes recovery from illness and injury and promotes health.

    Interesting Facts

    She discovered her love for musical theater when she played Mrs. Bucket alongside her son’s Charlie in a production of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

    She has a cat named Elphie, short for Elphaba.
