"I am thrilled to have moved to Seattle to join the teams at Seattle Children's Hospital and the Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders. I am passionate the clinical care of children and adolescents with bleeding disorders. I think excellent care occurs when we listen and collaborate with our patients, and are confident that patients understand their disease and agree with their treatment plan. My research career includes a wide variety of bleeding disorders; however, I am most passionate about improving our understanding and improving care to females with bleeding disorders. "

    Clinical Interests

    Dr. Wheeler is an attending physician at Seattle Children's Hospital and the Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders. Her clinical interests are focused on hemostasis and thrombosis. She has a particular clinical interest in female bleeding.

    Research Description

    Dr. Wheeler's research career has primarily focused on hemostatic disorders, and she has a robust collaborative research portfolio with industry and individual investigators. Her personal research focus mimics her clinical interest as she investigates the understanding and management of females with heavy bleeding; she is currently working to investigate the efficacy of the levonorgestrel intrauterine device in females with heavy menstrual bleeding in the presence or absence of bleeding disorders.  Her academic work also includes investigation of diversity, equity, and inclusion in medicine.
