Katerie Chapman is senior vice president and chief operating officer at Seattle Children’s, where she oversees the operational strategy for the top-ranked pediatric hospital system. With more than 25 years of executive healthcare leadership experience, Chapman previously served as a managing director at Kaufman Hall, a Vizient company, where she served as a trusted advisor to CEOs, executive teams and boards of complex health systems nationwide. Prior to that assignment, she served as president of Virginia Mason Medical Center, where she led large-scale organizational transformation, advanced high reliability as a foundational management system and contributed to the merger and integration that formed Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. Under her leadership, the organization sustained national and international recognition for quality and safety, achieved significant operational and financial improvement and maintained exceptional physician engagement through periods of substantial change.

Chapman is recognized for translating strategy into disciplined execution, strengthening culture during complex transitions and aligning governance and management around enterprise performance. Her work focuses on helping health systems build resilient, accountable organizations capable of delivering consistent excellence at scale. She is particularly valued for helping organizations navigate complexity, align leadership teams and accelerate enterprise transformation.

Chapman holds a master of health administration and a bachelor of science in microbiology from the University of Washington.
