Expanding access to Seattle Children’s specialists benefits families in East King and Snohomish counties
KIRKLAND, Wash. - EvergreenHealth and Seattle Children’s have entered into a strategic affiliation – Neonatal and Pediatric Specialty Care Services - to bring specialized neonatal and pediatric care close to home for families in east King and Snohomish counties. July 1, 2025, marked the beginning of an enhanced collaboration focused on improving access to high-quality, specialty care for newborns and children in the Puget Sound region.
Through this strategic affiliation, EvergreenHealth and Seattle Children’s will build upon their nearly 20-year collaboration to advance clinical excellence and expand care for sick or premature babies, and children requiring inpatient care through specialized services, advanced treatments and technology.
By expanding access to Seattle Children’s specialists, families will benefit from more comprehensive, compassionate care closer to home, ensuring they receive the expertise they need while often reducing the need to be transported to Seattle Children’s hospital campus for continued care.
“As a public hospital district, EvergreenHealth is dedicated to improving the health and wellness of our community,” said EvergreenHealth Chief Strategy and Operating Officer Chris Bredeson, MBA, FACHE. “This partnership with Seattle Children’s will provide Eastside families with convenient access to pediatric specialists and enable us to offer comprehensive care closer to home. We are thrilled about this affiliation and the positive impact it will have on patient care.”
EvergreenHealth, named among America’s best maternity hospitals by Newsweek in 2024, and Seattle Children’s, ranked one of America’s top children’s hospitals by US News and World Report in 2024, have worked together since 2006 to provide quality inpatient pediatric care. Their new strategic affiliation enhances care delivered at EvergreenHealth’s 43-bed neonatal intensive care unit and 13-bed inpatient pediatric unit.
“We’re thrilled to be serving Eastside families through our new agreement,” said Seattle Children’s President and Chief Operating Officer Jamie Phillips, MHA, FACHE. “By expanding access to Seattle Children’s pediatric specialists, families from Snohomish to Bothell to Bellevue and beyond can access exceptional care right in their own communities, making it more convenient and comfortable for them.”
Seattle Children’s will also provide medical direction and certain administrative leadership for the affiliation, as well as guidance and consultation on the development of clinical protocols, collaboration on quality improvement, and assistance with clinical training and education.
