New Specialty Clinic for Patients With Rett Syndrome

October 1, 2025

On September 22, Seattle Children’s launched a new multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to the care of patients with Rett syndrome, a rare genetic neurological and developmental disorder that affects the way the brain develops. Held monthly as a half-day clinic at the hospital campus, the clinic provides Pacific Northwest patients with local access to experts in diagnosing and treating Rett syndrome, reducing the need to travel to Denver or the Bay Area for this specialty care.

The new clinic offers comprehensive and personalized care for the unique needs of each patient. The team includes specialists in neurology, medical genetics, speech therapy, and a neurology-based dietitian. Our interdisciplinary team of experts uses their experience and dedication to improve patient outcomes.

The clinical team will also coordinate with other specialties across Seattle Children’s to provide holistic and integrated care to help improve patient outcomes by:

  • Supporting evidence-based monitoring and therapies for earlier detection and improved coordinated care
  • Evaluating and discussing emerging treatment options and clinical trials
  • Consulting with community providers on coordinated care plans

Seattle Children’s is committed to advancing the care and quality of life for patients with Rett syndrome. By bringing together a dedicated team of specialists and fostering collaboration across disciplines and with community providers, the clinic aims to offer families greater support, access to cutting-edge treatments, and a coordinated approach to patient care.
