July Mental Health Roundup
July 3, 2024
- Seattle Children’s offers a Mental Health Hospital Consultation Service for clinicians with patients boarding in an emergency department or on medical floors with a primary presentation of mental health concerns. The service aims to reduce the length of stays and enhance the quality of care by offering general education and suggestions and connecting clinicians with community-based resources. Additionally, the service provides behavior support strategies to assist care teams in managing youth with behavioral challenges during their hospital stay. The service is available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
To use the Mental Health Hospital Consultation Service, call 206-987-0999 or email [email protected].
The team also hosts monthly Provider Café and Office Hours. Community providers can ask questions, get to know the team and seek support from peers around the challenges of treating pediatric mental health patients. The next one is on July 25, 1 to 2 p.m.; join via Webex. Email [email protected] for additional details. - Seattle Children’s Mental Health Resource Hub provides easy-to-access mental health resources for wellness, prevention and early intervention. It’s intended for parents and others who care for children and teens, who may or may not receive services at Seattle Children’s. A recent redesign, based on input from Seattle Children’s Family Advisory Council, makes it easier for families to find relevant information that will help them recognize signs of a mental health problem and what to do to help their child or teen.
