Enhanced Radiology Support for Referring Providers

August 6, 2025

The Radiology care team is made up of highly qualified, specially trained pediatric radiologists, technologists, ultrasonagraphers and support services. One of the critical care team members is the radiology navigators who act as a dedicated liaison between referring providers and the Radiology team. They are equipped to triage needs and directly connect referring providers with the appropriate radiologist for a variety of requests. This includes supporting referring providers with radiologist consults, amendments or clarifications on existing reports, guidance on imaging protocols, and any other questions regarding patient imaging needs.

Even if a radiologist is deployed remotely or out of area, the radiology navigators can help facilitate the request, so referring providers are connected to the radiologist they need. The goal of this role is to provide enhanced support to referring providers which strengthens our partnership and helps us deliver the best possible care for our pediatric patients.

Referring providers will also receive timely, high-quality results from the Radiology team due to the dedicated and coordinated efforts of radiology navigators. They manage incoming concerns and requests, which allows radiologists to focus on immediate clinical tasks, improving efficiency and access to reports and imaging.

Along with managing incoming requests, radiology navigators will make outbound calls to connect radiologists and referring providers, assisting with gathering information and documenting critical results from our radiologists or teleradiologists.

Now, with even greater efficiency and direct access to the Radiology team, navigators help close communication loops between radiologists and referring providers, ensuring the right information is shared at the right time. Radiology Navigators are available Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and are ready to facilitate direct conversations, ensuring you get the timely expert advice you need.
