Epic Training

For Epic access at Seattle Children's Hospital, all users are required to complete role-based training or to demonstrate current Epic proficiency in that role. This includes prior trainees who have been away from Seattle Children's for an extended period. To do so, follow the steps below.

  1. Seattle Children’s Workday should have sent your username and password in separate emails. If you have not received them and they are not in your spam folder, reach out to your GME training coordinator.
  2. If you encounter technical issues, please call our Service Desk at 206-987-1111. You will need two of the following when you call:
    • Your Seattle Children’s username
    • Your Seattle Children’s badge number
    • Your manager’s name according to Seattle Children’s Human Resources Department:
      • Residents and Fellows: Chris Pendergrass, GME Associate Director
      • Medical Students: Sara Fear, Medical Student and WWAMI Program Manager
  3. The instructions below assume you have already familiarized yourself with Seattle Children’s Workday. If that is not the case, please refer to the Web-Based Training (WBT) page.
  4. Trainees will be assigned an Epic module in their Seattle Children’s Workday Learning account (also known as Grow@SC) related to their role. Residents/fellows will self-select the training or test out option (where available) that best fits their upcoming rotation. Medical students must complete their assigned module.
    • On your Learning Home page in Workday, click the Epic Options for Medical Residents (External-GME) tile, for residents and fellows, or the Epic for Inpatient-Only Provider tile, for medical students, to begin.
    • Residents and fellows:
      • Carefully read the PDF titled “Read This First: …” in lesson one before you proceed.
      • Complete the “Epic for…” lesson related to your role as instructed in the PDF in lesson one.
      • Pass the Exam or Test Out Option related to the content you reviewed.
      • Complete the final lesson titled “Epic and Other Clinical Apps on Your Mobile Device”.
        • This step is required to receive 100% credit for completing the training.
    • Medical students:
      • Review all content.
      • Pass the Epic for Inpatient Provider Exam.
