The Alder Gathering: A Celebration of Pediatric Care and Education
The Alder Gathering is the inaugural event of the ALDER Guild — a new community celebrating pediatric medical education across the WWAMI region, and the ongoing legacy of the UW/Seattle Children's pediatric training programs. The guild supports pediatric residents, fellows and medical students, and strives to deepen the connection between our training programs’ current members, faculty, staff, alumni and friends who make this special community what it is.
This year's Gathering will also recognize and honor Dr. Richard Shugerman as he retires. For decades, Dr. Shugerman has shaped pediatric medicine across the WWAMI region — as Program Director, Vice Chair for Faculty Development, and a tireless advocate for pediatric education. He has mentored and inspired generations of pediatricians, educators, and trainees, and there could be no better way to launch a guild dedicated to that same mission.
On Saturday, August 8, at 3 p.m., this community will gather in Seattle to celebrate. All faculty, colleagues, trainees, alumni, friends, community members and family are warmly welcome.
A meaningful way to celebrate — and to honor Richard's legacy — is to invest in the next generation of pediatricians. Your gift supports the ALDER Guild's mission: strengthening the pediatric training community across the WWAMI region and growing the UW/Seattle Children's Pediatric Trainee Fund for pediatric residents, fellows and medical students.
Join us — to celebrate this community, honor Dr. Shugerman, and carry his work forward.
