Research Description

Dr Sharek’s research focuses on pediatric patient safety and quality improvement. In the area of patient safety,  Paul has helped build and validate several “trigger tools” to define the epidemiology of harm in pediatrics, and has used these tools to measure changes in harms over time in pediatric and adult populations. Another focus of Dr Sharek’s patient safety and quality improvement research has been demonstrating improved outcomes from such interventions as rapid response teams, standardized handoff processes, hospital acquired condition best practices, and culture of safety best practices across local, regional and national pediatric populations.
