  • Biography

    Before becoming a Physician Assistant (PA), Mickey was a social worker and a public health advisor.  His career has spanned many sectors including child protection, behavioral health, family medicine and public health (even a short time waiting tables at Denny’s and as an Americorps Volunteer).  This is his second stint at Seattle Children’s, having previously been a social worker on the per diem team in the Emergency Department. 

     

    After working in family medicine, he chose to complete advanced training in Pediatric Psychiatry through an APP fellowship offered at Seattle Children’s.  His last rotation in the fellowship was at Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic (OBCC), and at the end of the fellowship, he remained on staff where he continues to deliver pediatric primary care and psychiatric services.  Clinically he’s interested in the relationship between social issues and how they manifest in the health of patients.  In addition to working at the clinic, he is also a contracted trainer with the University of Washington for child protection social workers.  In his spare time, he likes baking, getting outdoors, writing fiction and spending time with his family.

    Clinical Interests

    Specializes in integrated / collaborative care in primary care settings (in addition to psychotropic medication management at OBCC, he is also a primary care provider) and intersection of mental health and social stressors.  Also manages ADHD, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, trauma and bipolar disorders.
