Biography
Alex Ferris, LMHC, SUDP, is a Co-Occurring Therapist who specializes in integrated mental health and substance use care for children and adolescents at the Odessa Brown Children's Clinic (OBCC) within Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH). His work focuses on providing supportive, trauma-informed behavioral health care seamlessly alongside primary medical services.
My passion is rooted in increasing access to care and serving populations that have historically been underserved, particularly those navigating the challenges of both mental health and substance use disorders. I believe deeply in a holistic and relational approach to therapy, understanding that a child's environment, medical context, and family relationships are all critical to their well-being.
Before joining OBCC, I worked extensively in Community Mental Health agency, offering both school-based and office-based co-occurring services. This background provided me with a strong clinical foundation in providing care to diverse youth and families right within their community. As a clinician, I prioritize providing trauma-informed care and utilize evidence-based techniques tailored to each client's needs, including skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy.
I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwest University and am proud to hold both a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Substance Use Dependency Professional (SUDP) certification within Washington State. As a native of the Pacific Northwest, I am committed to supporting the health and vibrancy of our local community—and on the weekends, you can usually find me cheering on the Seattle Sounders.
