"I was drawn to child and adolescent psychiatry because I love working with children, solving problems and helping families provide excellent care for their young or adolescent children with mental-health symptoms. I’m especially gratified when an intervention I recommend results in significant improvement in symptoms — which happens often! For example, at times my diagnostic assessment has led to the realization that a child displaying oppositional behavior does so because of anxiety symptoms. When this happens, it helps families change their view of their child in a positive way, and we can initiate treatment directed at the root of the child’s problems."
