"Teenagers have so much potential and so much to contribute to our understanding of the world. I have encounters every day with teens and young adults who feel they have lost their way due to chronic medical conditions, substance abuse, depression, anxiety and concerns about their sexual health. I am committed to helping each one find their strengths and giving every patient the support or treatment needed to find their way again. The great thing about teenagers and young adults is that they are so resilient and strong; the key is to keep them aware of that."

Leslie R. Walker, MD, is chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Seattle Childrens Hospital and professor and vice chair of faculty affairs in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Walker also co-directs the Adolescent Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) at Seattle Childrens Hospital and is Director of the Leadership Education in Adolescent Health ( LEAH) multidisciplinary training program.
