Role: PI. Dr. Weissman is responsible for the molecular analysis of clinical bacterial isolates collected for the parent project, the SCOUT ("Short Course Therapy for Urinary Tract Infections in Children") study, one of NIAIDs Targeted Strategies to Reduce Antimicrobial Resistance contracts (Theo Zaoutis, PI). The study will compare several antibiotic treatment arms with regard to impact on intestinal flora in selecting antibiotic-resistant E. coli and K. pneumoniae.
